This template should be used in conjunction with successfully deprecated templates, i.e. templates that are deprecated and where all uses of the template have been eliminated. It can also be used with conditionally-deprecated templates, i.e. where certain uses of the template (e.g. using the |lang=
parameter instead of |1=
) have been deprecated and all such uses eliminated. It formats the output of the template call with the .deprecated
CSS class (which by default displays the output in olive green), precedes it with some text (by default "deprecated template usage") and categorizes the page in Category:Pages using deprecated templates.
